Earth Day and its Significance
22 April is celebrated as international Earth's day throughout the whole world. The first tie was celebrated in 1970, this now until now is celebrated to make people aware of the importance of the land they are living on.
From the day Earth was created, it has changed a lot. Due to different human activities and many natural disasters, Earth also suffered a lot.
One of the purposes of Earth's day was to make the young generation love their land and make efforts for its betterment.
Factory waste, chemicals, loss of green land, drought, smoke, and other wastages by humans and animals have made a great part of the earth unnourished.
Trees and plants are the major elements of the land. They also have a contribution to weather and climate change. But people are cutting down trees for their use which is ultimately a threat to the Earth. It has been estimated by the researchers that over fifteen billion trees are removed every year from the land. This estimate was done all over the world. Trees after absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, release oxygen for humans which helps them to breathe. Trees also play the role of protection to other living creatures like many insects and birds and also provide many fruits and vegetables for humans to eat. Also in the summer seasons, the shade of heavy trees provides a cooler place for people, especially travelers. It is necessary to make people understand and be aware of its importance of it. Earth day also gives an opportunity to spread this awareness.
This day spreads the word regarding the problems that our environment has to face, which are affecting our land, and enables the generation to figure out what the possible solutions can be to fix all these problems and make the Earth a better and better place to live.
Over the last decade or so, it has been noticed a surge in climate disasters that have impacted millions of people, ranging from high temperatures to wildfires and floods and many other natural disasters. According to the UN, the Covid-19 epidemic is also connected to the development of our ecology and it has disturbed it a lot which now needs to be corrected.
