Trans Rights _Transgender Status

 For so long, transgenders have been facing humiliation every day. Being born with a double-gender, they are merely acceptable by any society throughout the world. Even families do not own their trans children. Plenty of cases are known so far when trans people have been killed by their parents. Many times, on the day of some days after they are born. Many times, after years of them, I spent in this cruel world.  

Recently a similar case appeared and the world came to know that a 19 years old transgender girl Kathryn Newhouse was killed by her own father. She belonged to Atlanta. A friend of hers held a vigil for her in which many people participated and prayed for her.  

It is also reported that a few years back Kathryn and her father Howard were arrested on some allegations. Mr. Howard had an allegation to kill Kathryn by putting her down on a bed and restricting her breath by holding her throat. Whereas, Kathryn was accused of hitting her father with a cup that crashed on his face and left a wound on his nose.  

These incidents show that the relationship between father and daughter was never pleasurable. It is also reported that Kathryn had a harsh childhood and that she had an urge to leave the state.  

This is just a recent incident. This becomes the top discussed thing on social media and people raise their voices for every transgender. This raises other issues regarding trans people. Especially their rights. Transgender are given their basic rights even. the rights which we called basic human rights.  

The right to live with Dignity has the top priority in human rights. But unfortunately, transgenders are never treated with dignity and honor. We will find only a few examples in the whole world where transgenders are living with comfort. And also the fact that they gain their status with their efforts and with the support of their parents.  

The transgender community majorly faces discrimination. They hardly get any job. Transgender people have to face harsh behaviors and are never subjected to comfortable environments for work. They always have to hear abusive words in their workplace. Trans people are specifically concerned with the dancer community and also with prostitution. This shows that they receive no honor from anyone. However, there are many laws and acts for transgender people, but they are useless. 

National College of Arts in Pakistan took a step to provide a safer environment for the transgender community. The Director of the institution raised a question in this regard and discussed it. The other staff members along with students did not seem to have any problem with the decision of hiring transgenders and providing them with a safe and honorable environment. Veena was appointed as an assistant officer in the fine arts department, and is now enjoying her status and is happy to leave her job as a dancer.  

The purpose of citing this example here was to make people understand that if everyone makes some effort, transgender can also live as humans. They also have the right to speak, get an education, to be loved, receive honor, to live a life of a normal person. Their gender is not their fault. In fact, being transgender is not a fault. They still are humans and should be treated as humans. In short, transgender people's issues can be solve if world start considering them a normal human being.
